SMT 3451HS: Byzantine Eucharistic Liturgies

This course explores the history and interpretation of the Divine Liturgies of St. John Chrysostom, St. Basil the Great, and the Presanctified Gifts. Contemporary concerns regarding the significance and possible reform of these Liturgies will also be discussed, along with disputed issues of Eucharistic doctrine and practice.

Cyril Kennedy is the editor for Logos: A Journal of Eastern Christian Studies, published by the Sheptytsky Institute. In April 2022, he successfully defended his PhD dissertation, I Will Rise at Midnight: The Historical Development and Theological Significance of Festal Vigils in Jerusalem during the First Millennium. In 2018, Cyril was ordained a deacon in the Ukrainian Greco- Catholic Church. He is married and has two daughters.
